Wedding ring on or off during exercise? It is a question that many athletes ponder. The short answer: it depends. Here is everything you need to know about jewellery and sport.

What are the risks?

Scratches and damage: weightlifting, crossfit, or climbing can scratch your ring or even deform it under pressure.

Wear and tear: sweat, chlorine, and soap accelerate metal wear and can damage the finish.

Injury risk: in certain sports such as combat sports or ball sports, a ring can cause a cut on yourself or others. Rings can also catch on equipment, potentially causing ring avulsion.

When is it best to leave jewellery at home?

When is it fine?

For light sports like walking, yoga, or cycling, wearing a simple ring is generally not a problem. Watch out for sweat and clean your jewellery afterwards.

Sport ring as an alternative

Want to wear something on your finger during sports? Consider a silicone sport ring as a temporary alternative to your precious gold ring.
