Don't you know your ringsize?

Option 1: You’re always welcome at my workshop to measure your ringsize correctly. You can book an appointment by mail or phone.

Option 2: Order this small ringsizer. This ringsizer is small and can be send by post in a standard enveloppe to reduce transport costs. It’s very accurate, easy to use and very durable. This way you can store it and reuse it later for other measurments.Price is inclusive transport cost.

-> Make sure the ringsizer fits over your knuckle!

Option 3: Personally I would’t recommend this option, because it’s not very accurate. But sometimes it does the trick.

-> Take a strip of paper (around the same width as your future ring).

-> Roll it around your finger.

-> Mark where the strip overlaps.

-> Measure the strip until the mark. This must be done very accurate. Millimiters are important! One millimiter is one size

-> Make sure the strip fits over your knuckle.

What if the ring still turns out to be the wrong fit?

If you find the ring you’ve bought is too big or small, just take it along to my workshop by appointment. I’ll either re-size or exchange it, to make sure you always get the perfect fit.

The first fitting adjustment will be free of charge.

The only exeption for re-sizing a ring is for some gemstone rings. These cannot be resized due to the setting.

If you’re unable to come to my workshop, you may send it back to me. Be aware the transport cost and risk for loss is for the buyer. If you want to work with an insured company, you can ask me for more details by mail or phone.

Please check my return policy in the section below.

Remember option 3 of measuring your ringsize is not very accurate and therefor used more as a guide. A meeting in my workshop is the best way to ensure you have the exact ring size.

What if you're planning a surprise proposal?

The simplest way to find your partner’s ring size is to ‘borrow’ a ring they already wear on the same finger. As engagement and wedding rings are typically worn on the third finger of the left of the hand, it’s perhaps unlikely that that finger is already adorned. Simply choose a ring usually worn on the middle finger instead, and be prepared to go down a size or two for the right fit.

Once you have managed to source an appropriate ring, head to my workshop (after appointment), where I can measure up the ring.

If in doubt, choose a slightly larger ring size. It wil help to salvage the romance of the moment if the ring is a little too large than if it simply won’t go onto your beloved’s finger.

Color guide

Choosing the right colour for your jewellery can sometimes be tricky. Here is a quick guide to help you:

Carats:

Pure gold (24Ct) is too soft for daily use, therefor the gold is alloyed with other metals. In Belgium we mainly use 18Ct wich gives a beautiful colour and is very strong. Both 18 and 14Ct are very good for everyday use. If you would like a piece from my collection made in 14Ct, you can always ask for more info by mail.

24Ct = Pure gold

18Ct = 75% gold + alloy of other metals

14Ct = 58,5% gold + alloy

9Ct = 33,75 % gold (= very brittle, therefor I don’t work with this alloy)

The alloy of the gold will determine the result of the colour.

In yellow gold, the alloy consists mainly of copper and silver, white gold mainly of palladium and rosé gold mainly of copper.

Please note that alloys can always differ slightly, which sometimes gives a small colour difference. Every goldsmith or casting company uses an alloy that is unique for them. It’s sometimes like a magic potion with a secret recipe.

The difference between the ‘white’ gold in the classical shops and the natural colour of white gold.

The typical ‘white’ gold that we know is actually exaclty the same as the natural colour of white gold. The only difference is that the ‘white’ gold is covered with a layer of rhodium. Rhodium is also a precious metal, which has this typical white colour. This colour fades away after use, but it can be easily recoated.

Gold & diamonds

As we all know, mining gold and diamonds is destructive to our earth, so I ask you to handle your jewellery with the highest care.

The gold I use in my workshop is mainly recycled gold and a small amount of newly mined gold.

Fairtrade gold is also gold mined from our beautiful planet, but with better care for worker and less negative impact on the enviroment. The label mines without toxic chemicals and restore forests.

If you would like fair traid gold jewellery, please. contact me for the options.

In the future I do wish to work only with fairtrade gold.

The use of gold can be very devastating, but if we handle it carefully, it can be an environmentally friendly material due to the high recycling possibilities and the strenght of the material.

Lab grown diamonds, natural diamonds or recycled diamonds?

Natural diamonds are newly found diamonds extracted from our earth. They are more expensive and not enviromentally friendly.

Recycled diamonds are natural diamonds, but just pre-owned, like second-hand. But unlike clothes that wear out over time, diamonds are the strongest material on our planet, so they won’t be damaged. So they just look like new, are cheaper and much more enviromentally friendly.

Lab grown diamonds are diamonds that are not mined from our soil, but are made in a lab. In the lab, they create the same enviroment as where natural diamonds are made. So they actually consist of exactly the same material, but the process takes place in a laboratory or in our earth. Like the recycled diamonds, they are cheaper and much more environmentally friendly.
